ACTIVE PEOPLE, HEALTHY NATION ℠
Inspiring 27 million people to get active by 2027
Increased physical activity can improve health and quality of life and reduce health care costs. Regular physical activity can help reduce the risk of at least 20 chronic diseases and conditions. It can be an effective treatment for many of these conditions. Societal benefits include better school performance and improved military readiness. Building active and walkable communities can help support local economies, result in less air pollution, and create more cohesive communities.
Who
Active People, Healthy Nation is a national initiative lead by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to create an active nation by helping 27 million Americans become more physically active by 2027.
What
Active People, Healthy Nation aims to help individuals increase activity levels, inspire community-based and national organizations to support strategies that promote opportunities for physical activity, and identify public leaders who champion strategies that lead to activity-friendly communities.
